Stevedoring

Loading and unloading ships requires knowledge of the operation of loading equipment, the proper techniques for lifting and stowing cargo, and correct handling of hazardous materials. In addition, workers must be physically strong and be able to follow orders attentively. In order to unload a ship successfully, many longshoreman are needed. There is only a limited amount of time that a ship can be at a port, so they need to get their jobs done quickly. Sea Container Hygiene System

Both Australia and New Zealand require that sea containers be clean and free of pests and biosecurity contamination on arrival. Under the system, all shipping containers need to be cleaned offshore by industry prior to loading, in accordance with the department’s import requirements. PDL offers washing facility with associated company CRS Tonga Ltd. Containers are cleaned externally and internally at the port of loading and treated externally with an insecticide for pests. Our facilities are fully approved by Australia and New Zealand Ministery of Primary Industries (MPI).
